Prep Charter Athletics
The Athletic Department at Prep Charter makes available to students a wide variety of opportunities to develop athletic skills and to become involved as members of interscholastic athletic teams. Prep Charter High School is a proud member of the Philadelphia Public League and Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) .
There is a rich athletic tradition here at Prep Charter High School. Athletics are viewed as a unifying force within the school community, affecting not just those who take active part on teams but the entire student body. Participation in Prep Charter High School Athletics, however, is a privilege and not a right; and that privilege is earned by each participant through his or her adherence to the rules and policies set forth by Prep Charter and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association.
At Prep Charter, a main focus is preaching the term student athlete in which we place a strong emphasis on promoting a nurturing and challenging atmosphere for students to achieve high academic standards and develop essential career skills for the future.
The athletic program is an extension of our academic program and all athletes are urged to strive for excellence in both the classroom and on the field. Respect, good sportsmanship, commitment, and the development of skills and strategies necessary for interscholastic competition are essential to a successful athletic program.
Our main goal of this athletic program is to foster specific characteristics and qualities in each athlete. These include respect for self and others, honesty, integrity, discipline, commitment, reliability, and perseverance. The core values and life skills learned through the athletic experience here at Prep Charter will help students become successful well-rounded individuals in the future.
